Current Gift Ban Amount

There are three Constitutional gift bans under Colo. Const. art. XXIX, Section 3.

  • The first pertains to money, forebearance, or forgiveness of indebtedness. For this ban, acceptance or receipt of any amount is a violation.
  • The second pertains to things of value, including but not limited to gifts, loans, rewards, promises or negotiations of future employment, favors or services, honoraria, travel, entertainment, or special discounts. For this ban, solicitation, acceptance, or receipt of a thing of value having a fair market value or aggregate actual cost greater than $75.00 is a violation. See Position Statement 23-01.
  • The third pertains to gifts or things of value from professional lobbyists. For this ban, any amount is a violation.
